I turchi hanno fermato anche l'autista che li portava e altri 6 arabi sospettati di collaborare con i terroristi di Al Qaeda ad Istanbul.

Chissà perchè le agenzie italiane censurano queste notizie. E perchè La Repubblica manipola la notizia cambiando la nazionalità dei terroristi e censurando i loro obiettivi?

Al - Qaida Suspects Detained in Turkey

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) -- Two Palestinians and a Jordanian with suspected ties to the al-Qaida terror network were detained in eastern Turkey, allegedly on their way to stage a bomb attack in Israel, police said Tuesday.

The suspects were detained Friday in the eastern province of Van after ignoring a police warning to stop at a checkpoint, said Feyzullah Arslan, an Ankara police spokesman. They had entered Turkey illegally from Iran, he said.

Arslan said the men are members of a group called Beyyiat el-Imam, which has links to al-Qaida. They were trained in Taliban camps and fought for the former Taliban administration in Afghanistan, he said.

The suspects told police they had been ordered to travel to the western city of Istanbul, and from there to Israel. ``They planned to enter Israel through Syria and Jordan to carry out a bomb attack at a crowded area'' in either Tel Aviv or the suburb of Ramat-Gan, Arslan told a news conference.

The men were identified as Firaz Suleiman, Ahmed Mahmoud and Mustafa Hassan

No weapons or bomb parts were found in their possession, but police were inspecting Arabic-language documents believed to contain bomb-making instructions, Arslan said. The suspects were carrying fake passports, he said.

The detentions follow news reports last week that two Tunisian-born Canadians alleged to have ties to al-Qaida ties might be in Turkey. Newspapers identified the two men as Abderraouf Jdey and Abdelaziz Boussora.
